Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signs new £25m three-year Man Utd contract

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a new    £25m three-year deal at Old Trafford after a successful season with the Red Devils with the club officially confirming the news

The Norwegian, who has been in charge since 2018 after having taken over from Jose Mourinho on a temporary basis, has penned a new three-year deal with the option of a further year.

Solskjaer’s deal comes after the rookie manager guided United to a second-place finish in the Premier League and a Europa League final last season despite not having managed to win any silverware for the club.

The Old Trafford hierarchy, led by the departing executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, remain convinced the Red Devils are on the right path under Solskjaer.

The contract extension will see Solskjaer net £25m over the course of the deal.

Solskjaer said: “Everyone knows the feeling I have for this club and I am delighted to have signed this new contract.

“It is an exciting time for Manchester United. We have built a squad with a good balance of youth and experienced players that are hungry for success.

“I have a fantastic coaching team around me and we are all ready to take that next step on our journey.

“Manchester United wants to be winning the biggest and best trophies and that’s what we are all striving for.

“We have improved, both on and off the pitch, and that will continue over the coming seasons. I can’t wait to get out in front of a packed Old Trafford and get this campaign started.”
