Kylian Mbappe has reportedly made a decision on his future amid continuous links over a move to Real Madrid and Liverpool.
The Reds have always been in the conversation as far as interest in signing Mbappe is concerned for the past few years. The French star moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 reportedly for £166 million, but rumors have always continued to swirl regarding his future.
The France international’s current contract runs out at the end of the season, after which he would be free to negotiate with any club he fancies. This has redulted in links over a move with Liverpool and Real Madrid intensifying in recent weeks.
Mbappe has already decided that he wants to join Real Madrid in the summer, according to Sport Bild. The reports also add that the French star’s desire to add the Champions League trophy to his cabinet has been a key factor in his decision to sign for Real.
The report also says that the reason Liverpool “withdrew” from the running to sign Mbappe was due to the financial demands of the deal as he currently earns £170 million per year at PSG through salary and bonuses, and would not accept a lesser offer with any new club he signs.
It is also claimed that Mbappe had demands of his own for the summer ahead, specifically that he is keen to play for France at both the European Championships and the Olympics this summer.
As such, his wish to play at the Olympics would invariably be a “dealbreaker” for any team wishing to sign him, as the Olympics are due to take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, which would prevent Mbappe from featuring in the latter stages of pre-season and the early days of the 2024/25 campaign.
