Chelsea’s new boss Mauricio Pochettino has shortlisted new striker in a serious attempt to bolster the team’s attacking frontline.
In the wake of concerns expressed by Pochettino about the team’s lack of firepower in their frontline for the upcoming season, the Blues are actively exploring options to address this weakness by compiling a shortlist comprising potential striker targets that include the likes of Elye Wahi from Montpellier and Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus, according to the Evening Standard.
While no final decisions have yet to be made regarding the pursuit of these targets, confirmed signings so far include Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson this summer. The possible, if not likely, departure of Belgian Romelu Lukaku could point to the likelihood of another attacker arriving.
The pursuit of additional attacking options to reinforce their attacking firepower demonstrates the Blues’ commitment to strengthening the team’s frontline prowess. This coincides well with Pochettino’s arrival as the Argentine has immediately lit a fuse to spark off a much-needed proactive approach to identifying potential targets that will hopefully ensure a well-rounded squad for the upcoming season. The club’s recent signings and ongoing discussions with Wahi and Vlahovic are a testimony of their determination to maintain a competitive edge in the Premier League.
Discusiions have already commenced with Montpellier regarding Wahi, the promising 20-year-old striker who bagged an impressive 19 goals in 33 league games last season. As additional icing on the cake, Dusan Vlahovic is also available for around £68 million. Aprt from these two, the other strikers on the club’s radar include Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
