Aidil Zafuan: JDT have never underestimated Selangor

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) defender, Aidil Zafuan Abdul Radzak still considers Selangor a difficult team to play as both team meet in Super League match tonight.

Aidil explained that although JDT is at the top of the league at the moment, that does not mean that they have to take the next match easily because he expect each opponent will give different challenges to JDT including Selangor.

Thus, he and his teammates described the match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium as important enough for JDT to continue to collect three full points to further strengthen their position on the league table.

“As a player, I really think every match is important, not only for tonight, but the previous matches are also important for us.

“Maybe fans feel when Selangor meet JDT, with the previous meeting record makes them think it will be a pretty intense match.

“For me, even though JDT’s position in the league is now quite far from other teams, there is nothing comfortable because anything can happen and we will still give our best in every match.

“The important thing is, we have never underestimated the strength of the opponent and in football, my team only focus fully on the next match,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Selangor winger Syahmi Safari remains positive that nothing is impossible for Selangor to create a surprise because they want to ensure that they do not fall and return without any points.

Although Selangor will play without the two main pillars, namely Brendan Gan who was suspended and goalkeeper Khairul Azhan who will be getting married, the 22-year-old still believes coach, B. Sathianathan will fielded capable players to replace them.

“If we look at social media, everyone is talking about the JDT and Selangor match, in fact, many are predicting that Selangor will lose and some hope that Selangor will not be as bad as Perak before.

“But as players, we are always ready to do our best according to the plan from the coach and now we do not want to be too impressed with the pressure from social media.

“For the players, whoever is given a chance tonight, especially those who will replace Brendan and Khairul Azhan, I believe we can bear the responsibility to ensure a valuable victory,” he said.

Apart from the action of JDT and Selangor, another match that will take place is UiTM FC which will be against Terengganu FC.

Three other matches on Sunday saw Felda United face Pahang, Melaka against PJ City FC and PDRM will receive a visit from Perak.

The second best team in the league at present, Kedah, will face Sabah on Monday at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras where the decision to change the date and venue was taken following the Restricted Movement Control Order in Kota Setar District, effective 11-25 September.
