‘The worst possible teammate’ who ‘gets away with murder’, Gabby Agbonlahor says of Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has been lambasted for his indulgent performances and questionable, self-absolving attitude, with Gabby Agbonlahor branding him the ‘worst possible teammate’.

Red Devils players are now understandably being pinned down under the microscope after a diabolical start to the season, which has seen them lose 2-1 to Brighton and then capitlate haphazardly to an abysmal 4-0 defeat to Brentford.

The Bees merrily buzzed their way all over the Red Devils and stung them in numerous exposed places the latter could scare believe and just relegated the 13-time Premier League champions to the bottom of the League table with a mesmerising first-half romp and rout that stunned all and sundry present.

Two shocking howlers from a usually composed David de Gea cost Erik ten Hag’s side most dealy, taking the wind out of United’s sails in the early minutes of the first half before the west Londoners ruthlessly put their opponents to the sword with another two goals before the first 45 minutes were over.

It was total calamity for the Red Devils as none of the Man United stars were able to come out of the loss with any positives, with the usual group of suspects again lining up to walk the gangplank.

Captain Harry Maguire, even wantaway Portuguese dynamo Cristiano Ronaldo and misfiring forwards Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were subjected to scrutiny, along with De Gea and new signing Lisandro Martinez, who was immediately substituted at half-time.

In the aftermath, ex-Aston Villa ace Agbonlahor has has seen it fit and necessary to call another United star into the harsh glare of the spotlight, unequivocally explaining why Fernandes deserves to be singled out for his less than impressive performances.

He told the GameDay Phone In: “How [many] managers can they go through? It’s easy to point at Maguire, easy to point at Ronaldo, Rashford, Sancho.

“For me, Fernandes, since he’s been in the Premier League, yes he’s had great stats, goalscoring and assists but he looks like the worst teammate.

“Every time a player gives it away, every time he gives it away, he throws his arms up at his teammates, he throws his arms up at the bench.

“I’ve played with players like him, you’d be fuming at him. He’ll press now and then. If that was Paul Pogba they would be slaughtering Pogba in the media.

“Fernandes gets away with murder. Did you see Fernandes do anything? It’s easy to say Maguire, Ronaldo, Rashford, Sancho.

It’s obvious that Fernandes’ moaning irks Agbonlahor, who also believes it will annoy his teammates.

“Fernandes, for me, I can’t remember the last time he had a decent game. He’s always the one that’s throwing his arms up in the air. Even when he gives it away.

“He could pass it to you but pass it out of play and he’d blame you. That’s the sort of player Fernandes is. The worst possible teammate.”
