Neymar getting himself sent off…so he can go to Rio Carnival again

Neymar is about to miss Rio Carnival, the Brazilian festivities he has never missed since he joined Barcelona in 2013 and that continues when he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

But he could make Rio Carnival after all… after being sent off late in the game which saw PSG won a thrilling 4-3 victory over Bordeaux at the Parc des Princes.

Bordeaux took the lead through Hwang Ui-jo in 18th minute, before Edinson Cavani equalised in 25th minute which is his 200 goals in his career.

Marquinhos put PSG ahead during the injury time, but Bordeaux equalised just 4 minutes later, before the final whistle for the first half blows.

PSG is ahead again thanks to Marquinhos who scored his second goal in 63 minute, before Kylian Mbappe scored the fourth PSG goal in 69 minute.

Bordeaux clawed one back through Ruben Pardo in 83 minute, but they failed to find equaliser before the final whistle.

Instead, Neymar decided to picked up his second yellow for a late challenge on Pardo, sarcastically clapping as he made his way off the pitch before ripping his shirt off in disgust.

That enabled him to join the Rio Carnival which began on Friday, and doesn’t finish until Wednesday – giving Neymar a few days to potentially go and celebrate with his sister and friends.

Neymar has notoriously missed the game in March, presumably to join the Rio Carnival.

He was banned for one game when he was at Barcelona in 2015 and 2016 before he was out injured due to muscular problems that kept him out in 2017.

After joining PSG, he was in Brazil recovering from a broken metatarsal in both 2017 and 2018.

The one-game suspension however, will not be enough for Neymar to make his annual appearance at sister Rafaella’s birthday party on March 11, when he will be expected to play against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League Round of 16.
