Looks like there’s trouble brewing in the Real Madrid paradise as Kylian Mbappé is reportedly having serious second thoughts about joining the Los Blancos, with Liverpool now being genuinely considered a much more viable option. The Reds are now perceived to have an advantage over their La Liga rivals.
Kylian Mbappé has been featuring snugly in the headlines this week as the French superstar was at his imperious best with his midweek 1-0 win for Paris Saint-Germain against Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 in the first leg match. The French superstar notched another stunner by scoring the only goal of the game with a delicate dribble weaving past two Los Blancos defenders and sending the ball past Thibaut Courtois late in the game to secure the victory for the Parisian capital club.
Even prior to the victory at the Parc des Princes, reports had been circulating that Mbappé has begun nursing second thoughts over alleged ‘inevitable’ decision to join the team he had just beaten, as had been pictured by most of the Spanish media for a long time.
Clearly the highly intelligent and mature French World Cup winner is fully cognisant that he is spoilt for options when his contract expires in a matter of months although the general consensus had been that he would join the Spanish giants in a free transfer this summer.
However, what’s beginning to circulate now is that Mbappé wasn’t at all impressed with what he had seen of the Spanish giants first hand at the Parc des Princes, and is is now beginning to question his choices.
It’s also common knowledge that Carlos Ancelloti’s overly cautious approach to the game was also heavily slagged by club president Florentino Perez and the match in many ways was a reflection of where both teams now stand in the pecking order with PSG having both the money and the abundance of superstars, and Madrid having neither.
Spanish outlet Sport have suggested that Mbappé now has the option of either staying put where he now comfortably is and renew with PSG, or consider the other alternative of considering perhaps moving to Liverpool as Mbappé had also been ‘attracted’ to Liverpool since a few seasons ago.
The allure of working with Jürgen Klopp and the sporting project of the Reds could be irresistible enough to entice the 23-year-old to Anfield although they would be hard-pressed to match the breathtaking financial offer in terms of salary to the player now seen by many as being the best in the world.
Liverpool are unquestionably one of the best sides in Europe at present, and as a consequence have an advantage as a landing place over many of their historic European contemporaries for the game’s marquee players.
