Jose Mourinho agrees with Harry Kane’s transfer preference

‘The Special One’ has given Tottenham star Harry Kane some advice as the striker considers his future.

Former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has advised Harry Kane to “play where he is happy”, amid hot speculation about his future.

Kane is dead center in the cross-hairs of numerous clubs this summer, with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United all linked with him, and the Three Lions captain has spoken about the need to “have a good, honest conversation” with Spurs chief Daniel Levy about his future.

Speaking on The Overlap with Gary Neville, Kane said: “There’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club.

“It’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman.

“As players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking. He might want to sell me. He might be thinking, ‘If I could get £100m then why not?’ I’m not going to be worth that for the next two or three years.

“I’m sure that [Levy] will want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career at this moment in time.

“I don’t want to have come to the end of my career and have any regrets. I want to be the best that I can be.

“I’ve said before, I’d never say that I’d stay at Spurs for the rest of my career [and] I’d never say that I would leave Spurs.”

Refreshingly, Kane mentioned that a move abroad does not ‘really interest’ him, suggesting that he will make the move to another Premier League club if he does leave Spurs in the coming summer.

When posed the question of what might stop him from breaking Alan Shearer’s record as the Premier League’s leading goalscorer, Kane replied: “I guess injuries would be the biggest thing.

“Obviously I’ve had injuries, ankle injuries, and I haven’t had anything that’s kept me out for months and months touch wood.

“I guess for me I think injuries would be the biggest thing. Of course there’s always the option of maybe moving abroad one day but I don’t think that really interests me in the near future.

“I feel like I’ve got a good seven or eight years at the top when you look kind of the Messis, Ronaldos … your Ibrahimovics all kind of getting better as reach their early thirties.”

Kane’s former boss Mourinho, who managed the striker during his 17-month stint in charge of Spurs, believes Kane will be featuring again in the Premier League next season.

In an interview with James Corden for The Sun, Mourinho was asked where he thinks Kane should be playing next season and replied: “I think he has to play where he is happy. And I think he is happy in England. He is a very Premier League guy.

Mourinho also described Kane as “one of the top strikers in the world”.
