Infuriated and frustrated, Lionel Messi bares all as Barcelona lose title to Real Madrid

Barcelona star Lionel Messi was upwards a couple of notches on the Richter scale after Barcelona lost 2-1 to Osasuna and Real Madrid clinched the La Liga title with a convincing 2-1 win over Villarreal.

Messi, dejected and disgruntled after the night’s calamitous proceedings for Barcelona, could not contain his frustrations anymore and gave a furious interview where he unleashed his pent-up emotions and voiced his dissatisfaction regarding various key issues that to him have caused the downslide of the club since January.

The night apparently was one meant for disaster beginning with the Blaugrana giants loss to Osasuna despite Messi’s excellent free-kick but they ended up losing the game 2-1. After that, Real Madrid followed up with their 2-1 win over Villarreal, which saw the curtains descending on a despondent Barca’s LaLiga title hopes.

Osasuna had taken the lead after just a quarter of an hour had gone but Messi’s equaliser looked set to spark a comeback from the Catalan giants.

When Enric Gallego got sent off, it seemed inevitable that Barcelona would secure the win but Osasuna snatched it late and Messi was left infuriated.

Speaking after the game, he labelled the team “weak” and claimed they will get knocked out of the Champions League by Napoli if they continue to play the same way they have this season.

“We didn’t want to end the season like this but it represents how the season has gone,” he fumed.

“All season we have been a very weak team, beaten for intensity, for motivation, people can score against us very easy, we lost many points where we shouldn’t lose them.

“This game has just summed up how our season has been.”

He continued: “Roma, Liverpool… the fans are running out of patience because we’re not giving them anything. If we want to fight for the Champions League, a lot has to change. Like this, we will lose to Napoli.

“We have to be self-critical, starting with the players, but across the whole club.

“We are Barça and we have to win everything. We can’t look at Madrid. Madrid have done their job, but we have helped them a lot.

“The sensations are that the team tries but cannot, we leave much to be desired in many games. Everything we have experienced since January has been very bad. We have to change a lot of things for real.”
