Manchester United’s Erik Ten Hag is well aware that he has to act swiftly to further bolster the squad in this January transfer window as he has his sights set on two Benfica players.
The likes of Antonio Silva, Goncalo Ramos and Florentino are allegedly some of the main targets wanted by top European sides and the first two are on United’s wishlist, according to a report by O Jogo today.
Ramos creditably netted 15 goals in all competitions for the Eagles this season besides netting a brilliant hat-trick at the World Cup in the Round of 16 and the Portuguese media outlet have already claimed that the 21-year-old center forward is one of the main options for Erik ten Hag to reinforce his attack this month.
At the same time United are also keen to hire the services of Antonio Silva to reinforce their backline as the 19-year-old also featured prominently for the Seleccao in Qatar whilst also being rock solid at the back for Benfica in the current campaign.
O Jogo has however revealed that in the January transfer window, Benfica’s caveat in selling their players is only if their termination clauses are activated.
Ramos has a release clause of 120 million euros in his contract and Silva has a clause of 100 million euros. In order to to sign the duo, Man Utd will have to fork out a combined fee of 220 million euros (£195million).
Ten Hag is in urgent need of a striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford and Ramos is a prime candidate as a replacement.
Meanwhile as far as central defense is concerned, Harry Maguire continues to play the role of bench-warmer. United splashed a lot of cash to sign Lisandro Martinez last summer.
Perhaps they should also break the bank to lure Antonio Silva?
