Tottenham will have to cough up £10m to hire Iraola amid Postecoglou sack news

Tottenham will need to fork out something to the tune of £10million to Bournemouth if they are indeed having serious thoughts of replacing Ange Postecoglou with Andoni Iraola.

However, cautioning restraint, Daniel Levy and Spurs have decided to stick by Postecoglou despite the club’s miserable recent form, according to Football London on Monday (20 January),.

Yet that hasn’t stopped other managers from being linked with the Tottenham job, with Bournemouth gaffer Iraola definitely in the reckoning, although ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t see why the 42-year-old should move to North London.

“It would cost Spurs £10m to go and get Iraola,” King said.

“However, Bournemouth are in a good position. Therefore, why would you want to disrupt your club just because a big club are in trouble? If Spurs are going to bring in a new manager, I think it would need to be someone from outside of the Premier League.”

Postecoglou might still be wrapped in a security blanket for now but things could change anytime in a flash if match victories are not forthcoming as chairman Levy is bound to make a change then. Spurs are currently 15th in the Premier League, albeit still in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League.

Hence, it feels as though all of Postecoglou’s hopes are resting on these cup competitions. As a result, if Spurs are to be eliminated from these competitions, Levy is expected to show the Australian the exit door.

In the event of that happening, Spurs would need a replacement, and Iraola would be an ideal candidate as the Bournemouth boss has worked wonders and has the Cherries flying high in the Premier League, all this despite a host of injury issues of their own.

And if Levy does sack Postecoglou, there would then be no excuse not to pay the £10m required to get Iraola out of Bournemouth and into the Tottenham hot seat.

However, whether he would accept a move is another thing altogether.
