Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is seemingly unconcerned about Liverpool advancing in form as he is more concerned about his side’s need for improvement in their away from.
Fernandes has insisted he is ‘not worried about Liverpool’, claiming instead his preoccupation is primarily with United’s performances in the midst of the clubs’ battle for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The Red Devils advanced four points clear of Liverpool on Saturday after their 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers and will face Leicester City on Monday night as they head into the game, hot after a run of six league wins in a row.
Fernandes claims he’s not taking any notice of Jurgen Klopp’s side as the Premier League campaign enters its final two weeks.
“I’m not worried about Liverpool, I’m worried about us doing our job,” claimed the Portugal international.
“It is about ourselves and, like I said, if we do our job properly, if we win our games we will be in the Champions League so we don’t need to look at the table or look at other teams.”
Up next for United is a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday. The Cherries have enjoyed a superb campaign and are comfortably clear of the relegation zone. As for United, they’ll hope for an improvement on their poor away form which has seen them lose the last on the road to Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.
“The aim now is to win the game against Bournemouth. It is an away game and we have not been at our best in the away games and we have to get back to getting wins away from home,” said Fernandes.
“Here [at Old Trafford] the support is amazing but the away fans, they go everywhere and follow us everywhere, it’s always full of people to support us, so it cannot be an excuse for us.
“I’m pretty sure we know what it takes to win away and Bournemouth is a pretty tough opponent to play against and a pretty tough stadium too. We just have to rest ourselves and prepare for the game in the best possible way like we did for today and go there full power to win the game.”
