Man Utd in bid to raise £100m with 10 players put up for sale

Man Utd are in earnest looking to sell 10 players to fund additional transfer spending during the summer transfer window ahead of the new Premier League campaign after acquiring Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones are among the 10 players the Red Devils will try to cross off their assets, especially after having completed the long-awaited signing of fleet-footed ace winger Sancho from Borrusia Dortmund for a chunky £72million. Another £42million are waiting to be forked out as they await the successful completion of the transfer of Real Madrid centre back Raphael Varane to their ranks for the new campaign after agreeing a £42million deal with Los Blancos, where all that’s left pending now is a medical at the club’s Carrington training ground next week before completing the transfer.

It also appears the big summer spending spree may not end there as Kieran Trippier and Eduardo Camavinga are both also being linked with moves to Old Trafford although realistically the chances of them being added to the United squad before the window closes on September 2 depends on them being able to shift several players.

According to ESPN, the 10 players which United are open to selling are Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Andreas Pereira, Daniel James and Axel Tuanzebe.

Noticeably last season’s Premier League runners-up are also seriously considering selling star midfielder Paul Pogba who has up till now refused to sign a new contract at Old Trafford as it is rumored that Pogba is reportedly being chased by big-spending PSG who are supposedly ready to pay £50 million for the Frenchman.

If United do manage to unload Pogba then the club will be just as willing to move on several more players in order to raise the £100million needed for more additions, with one of those players being Anthony Martial who has been at United since joining from Monaco in 2015.

The French forward is currently injured but is valued at £40.5million and has scored 93 goals across all competitions since United splashed £36million on him.

Other notable names include Jesse Lingard who had a successful loan spell at West Ham last season, helping the Hammers finish sixth in the Premier League.

Lingard is a product of the United youth academy but has never managed to nail down a consistent spot in their starting 11 despite making 29 senior appearances for England.

Centre back Phil Jones is another player United are willing to sell, with the 29-year-old having struggled with injuries during his career and made just six appearances in the last campaign for United.

Manchester United kick off their Premier League campaign against Leeds United on August 14.
