AC Milan have confirmed the signing of French dynamo Olivier Giroud on a permanent basis from Chelsea.
Fresh from the recent Euro 2020, the evergreen France striker – who scored 39 goals in 119 appearances for the Blues, winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup – has signed a two year deal worth £1million and will be handed the No 9 jersey in Italy plus an extra £1m in bonuses subject to a number of appearances and qualification for the Champions League.
The announcement came after Giroud completed his medical at Milan’s La Madonnina clinic on Friday morning, immediately after which the striker took to Twitter to thank Chelsea for the ‘special moments’ he experienced at the club and express his excitement over his ‘new journey’.
“To all the Blues, to my teammates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments,” he wrote.
“I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent.”
