Phil Foden ruffles Kylian Mbappe’s feathers with provocative tweet after Man City win

Manchester City have finally broken their hoodoo and are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League where they will face PSG, and Phil Foden was so caught up in the euphoria of the win that he has already begun the pre-match ribbing with the Parisien club with a cheeky post on social media.

Foden has taken the gamble of inciting the wrath of Kylian Mbappe by calling out the PSG star on social media ahead of their Champions League showdown – by tweeting him and tagging him in a saucy Instagram post with the same caption: “@KMbappe are you ready.”

Manchester City edged out Borussia Dortmund to reach the final four of the competition on Wednesday as Erling Haaland and gang were brushed aside 4-2 on aggregate.

Later this month, the semi-finals will get underway, with Chelsea facing Real Madrid  while City take on PSG.

Foden got plenty of light-humored ribbing from fans who joked that Mbappe had probably never even heard of the Englishman, while others thought it was a good move to provoke their star-studded Parisien opposition with some mind games.

Both the tweet and the Instagram post have both since been deleted, but not before it had caught the eye of thousands on social media.

This would surely be a most intriguing two-legged affair to look forward to as two of the brightest young talents, Foden and Mbappe, go toe-to-toe for the first time.

City manager Pep Guardiola enthusiastically bespoke his delight at reaching the semi-finals of the competition once again.

“I’m incredibly happy to be in the semi-finals,” he said.

“To be one of the best four teams in Europe, to be against big, strong teams and we will try to be good.

“This competition is nice but also so unfair because we are judged as a failure or a disaster when we are knocked out.

“You play 11 months for the Premier League and the other competitions.”
