The 20-year-old Brazilian forward who dreams of playing for Manchester United

Should Manchester United for any reason fail to clinch the Jadon Sancho deal this summer, they still have a fall-back plan that is much cheaper and definitely much easier to accomplish without even battling an eyelid.

20-year-old Brazilian forward Tete has said that Manchester United are one of three European clubs for whom he dreams of playing. The Brazilian could be regarded as a back-up target for the club if they are unsuccessful in their attempt to sign Sancho during the next transfer window.

The 20-year-old made the move from Brazilian side Gremio to Shakhtar Donetsk in February 2019.

Although he failed to earn a single appearance for Gremio at the senior level, Tete has nonetheless definitely made a mark for the Ukrainian champions with nine goals and seven assists from 36 appearances.

Speaking to Esporte Interactivo via Goal, the nimble attacker said that his ambition is to play for some of Europe’s elite clubs including Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool.

“Three clubs are part of my dream in Europe: Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool. Gigantic clubs with fantastic managers and an incredible number of trophies,” he told.

“As a player, I dream of winning important titles and those clubs are incredible options to achieve that.

“I know United and Liverpool are rivals. But, if the moment of choosing one of them actually came about I would have to choose wisely.”

Tete plays primarily as a right-winger for Shakhtar where he has made all of his goalscoring contributions although he also possesses the ability to play in the attacking midfield.

United are definitely on the prowl for someone to strengthen the right side of their attack but it is unlikely that they would prioritise Tete’s signature ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho.

But at around £14m, this would be chup change as a viable back-up plan compared to the £100m that would have to be forked out for Sancho. Tete has three-and-a-half years remaining on his Shakhtar contract.
