Three games after appointing new manager, Barcelona already lost their first game

Despite dominated more than 70 percent of possession, Barcelona could not prevent from upset as they lose their first La Liga game in 2-0 away to Valencia.

Maxi Gomez scored twice in the 48th and 77th to seal first Valencia win over Barcelona in 13 years.

Barcelona could easily 3-0 down Gabriel Paulista scored from a corner but the goal was ruled out for a foul following a VAR review.

It was a game Quique Setien wanted to forget after suffering a defeat in just three games in charge of Barcelona.

“The reality is that we did not play well at all, especially in the first half,” said Setien to Marca.

“We couldn’t get near their goal and at certain moments we did not understand each other well and Valencia made the most of our mistakes. We made a lot of passes for the sake of making them and were not capable of causing any damage.”

While Barca are still top of the table on 43 points, second-placed Real Madrid could go three points clear if they beat Real Valladolid away from home.
