Best moment of decade in world football

Football fans have seen many beautiful things that happening every year.

From World Cup in South Africa to the World Cup in Russia.

Football Tribe take a glance at every year’s best moment from 2010 to 2019.

2010

Spain finally won their first ever World Cup title, after beating Netherlands 1-0 in the final.

The Spaniards boast the best generation at the time, from Sergio Ramos, Carles Puyol to Xavi and David Villa.

It was such a cold night at Johannesburg after 100 minutes play, until Andres Iniesta scored the decisive goal that became one of the best moment in football.

2011

Fernando Torres controversially moved to Chelsea, prompted protests from Liverpool fans.

That same year, Cesc Fabregas announced his departure from Arsenal to join Barcelona, ended one of the longest transfer saga in the history.

Japan won fourth Asian Cup title after beating Australia in the final.

2012

Lionel Messi has stamp his authority as one of the best footballer in the world after scoring an incredible 91 goals in 69 games in all competition.

Despite Mario Balotelli inspiring form in Euro 2012, Italy were stunned by 4-0 loss over reigning world champion Spain.

Chelsea won their first ever Champions League after beating Bayern Munich through penalty shootout.

2013

Neymar officially moved to Barcelona for a fee of €86.2 million in a five-year deal.

Borusia Dortmund reach UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 1997, but ended up in defeat to rivals Bayern Munich.

Liverpool quest of ending league title drought ended in disaster after they surrendered the lead to Manchester City who went on to win the Premier League.

2014

Many expected host Brazil to win the World Cup at their home soil, only to be destroyed 7-1 by eventual champions Germany in the semi-final.

It was such a shocking result that the Brazilian newspaper rated every single player with zero and headline with “Darkest Moment in Brazilian football.”

Lionel Messi hopes of winning the World Cup vanished into thin air after Mario Gotze scored in 113th minute to secure fourth title for Germany.

2015

Raheem Sterling moved to Manchester City for €62.5 million after dispute with Liverpool over wage demand.

That same year, Angel Di Maria moved to PSG from Manchester United for €64 million, followed by Kevin de Bruyne who moved to Man City for €75 million.

Australia made history as they won the first ever Asian Cup title, beating South Korea in the final.

2016

France is the favourite to win Euro following a fine run of form, especially competing with the best generation they have in 10 years.

However, Portugal inspired by manager Fernando Santos and Cristiano Ronaldo defied the critics by passing through the final.

They managed to withstand pressure from France as Eder scored in 109th minute to secure Portugal first ever Euro title.

Paul Pogba rejoin Manchester United for a fee of €105 million from Juventus.

2017

Neymar became the most expensive footballer of all time after moving to Paris Saint-Germain for €222 million, activating the release clause in his contract.

In the same summer, Ousmane Dembele moved to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund for a fee around €105 million.

Real Madrid made history as they became the first club to win 13th UEFA Champions League title, after beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final.

2018

France rose to expectation as they won the second World Cup since winning in 1998, courtesy of brilliant performance from the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Benjamin Pavard.

Germany crashed out of the World Cup after a horrid performance against South Korea in the group stage.

Cristiano Ronaldo surprised fans as he leave Real Madrid after trophy-laden years to join Serie A champions Juventus in a €100 million deal, the highest transfer fee paid by Italian club.

Mbappe became the second most expensive footballer ever following a move to PSG from Monaco for €135 million.

2019

Liverpool ended the year winning three trophies, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Joao Felix became the third most expensive footballer of all time, as he joined Atletico Madrid for €126 million from Benfica.

This is following the departure of Antoine Griezmann who moved to Barcelona for €120 million from Atletico.

The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has prompted Real Madrid to sign Eden Hazard for €100 million from Chelsea.
