Thankfully for the Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho, the Old Trafford club and Borussia Dortmund have reached an outline agreement for the loan of the winger until the end of the season.
There is a willingness shown on both sides to get a deal done, albeit with both sides agreeing there are important details still to be resolved.
Dortmund are hopeful to have Sancho at their warm weather training camp in Marbella next week although there is no guarantee the loan will be finalized this weekend in a deal that will reportedly cost the Bundesliga side around £2,6million and, since Thursday, only tax details were left to be sorted, rding to German newspaper Bild.
Sancho had exited Dortmund to join Manchester United for £73million in 2021 but has not made an appearance since August after having been exiled from Dutchman Erik ten Hag’s squad.
The winger’s aggregate of twelve goals in 82 games seems to be a rather modest return on investment for the princely sum United had doled out for his services but he had most promisingly shown his prodigious talents and abilities while enjoying a prolific four seasons at Dortmund, scoring 50 goals in 137 games.
Goal-scoring machine and former teammate Erling Haaland hailded Sancho as a ‘proper baller’, as a testament of the high regard in which he is held by those familiar with him at Dortmund.
It will be an interesting test for Sancho to be returning to regular top-level football, especially since he has not even trained with the United first team since September.
However, reports had emerged that he was training ‘like a beast’ in December with suggestions that some of his comrades at United wanted to see him reinstated into Ten Hag’s set-up.
