Manchester City players were captured by Sky Sports cameras consoling a clearly emotional Heung-Min Son after their Carabao Cup victory as several players went over to speak to him after the full-time whistle was blown.
In a match that City deserved to win after dominating the match from the start until the end, with wasteful finishing costing them precious goals, Guardiola’s Sky Blues triumphantly lifted the trophy for a fourth-successive time at Wembley with a 1-0 win thanks to Aymeric Laporte’s 82nd-minute header.
Whilst City players and staff celebrated their latest triumph in front of supporters, Ilkay Gundongan was first to give Son some words of encouragement before Phil Foden came over and patted the South Korea international on the back.
Devin de Bruyne then came over to offer some words of comfort as the three players wrapped up what was a truly classy gesture from the City squad.
After the match, Laporte admitted his relief at finally breaking down a stubborn Tottenham defence to win the trophy.
“We are so happy to win this title again,” Laporte told Sky Sports.
“It’s very special for us because we lost in the FA Cup, so it’s good for us to get confidence and keep going like we have done in the past few months. We’ve been so, so good, so we have to keep playing this way to win more titles.”
