The Swedish media have weighed in on Newcastle United star Alexander Isak’s performance following Sweden’s surprising 1-0 loss to Luxembourg in an international friendly on Saturday. Despite his stellar form for Newcastle this season, with 23 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, Isak struggled to make an impact against the lower-ranked opposition.
Isak, who was instrumental in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool last weekend, started as Sweden’s captain for the match. However, he was substituted after 60 minutes, and Swedish outlet Fotboll Skanalen gave him a modest 2/5 rating, noting: “Captain for the day and came close to making it 1-0 early.
