Barcelona eyeing Liverpool winger Luis Díaz as a potential summer transfer target rather than Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

The Catalan club’s sporting director, Deco, is said to be a strong admirer of Díaz, who has been a key player for Liverpool since joining in January 2022. However, any move would depend on Barcelona’s financial situation and their ability to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play regulations.

Díaz’s father, Luis Manuel Díaz, has expressed that a move to Barcelona would be a “dream” for his son. Despite this, Liverpool is under no pressure to sell the winger, whose contract runs until 2027. The Reds are expected to demand a significant fee for their No. 7, making it challenging for Barcelona, who are still navigating financial constraints.

Díaz has been in solid form this season, contributing 13 goals and five assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. While he remains an integral part of Jürgen Klopp’s system at Liverpool, speculation about his future persists. Reports suggest that Barcelona’s interest in Díaz is driven by their need for attacking reinforcements, particularly on the left flank, as they look to bolster their squad under coach Hansi Flick.

Barcelona has also been linked with other targets like Rafael Leão and Alexander Isak but views Díaz as a more attainable option. The Catalan club is reportedly preparing a bid of around €70 million ($73 million) for the Colombian star. However, Liverpool’s willingness to entertain offers may hinge on their own transfer strategy, particularly their pursuit of a world-class striker to strengthen the team’s central attack.

While Barcelona continues to monitor Díaz’s situation closely, any deal will depend on their ability to create financial flexibility through player sales or other means. For now, Díaz remains a pivotal figure at Anfield as Liverpool pushes for success under manager Arne Slot.
