Man Utd want to replace Amorim with sacked West Ham boss as board lines up three candidates

Manchester United are reportedly preparing for a potential managerial change as pressure mounts on Ruben Amorim following a disastrous season. Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November, has struggled to improve the team’s performances, leaving the Red Devils languishing in 14th place in the Premier League after 27 matches. The team’s recent FA Cup exit at the hands of Fulham has further compounded the club’s woes.

Reports suggest that United’s board is actively considering replacements, with three high-profile candidates emerging as potential successors. Among them is Julen Lopetegui, recently dismissed by West Ham, who boasts experience managing top clubs like Sevilla and Real Madrid. His reputation for rebuilding struggling teams makes him an appealing option. Another contender is Joachim Löw, the former Germany coach who led his nation to World Cup glory in 2014. Löw’s ability to manage star-studded squads could be valuable at Old Trafford. The third candidate is Massimiliano Allegri, currently at Juventus, known for his tactical acumen and success in Serie A.

Amorim has faced criticism for failing to implement his style effectively, with players reportedly struggling to adapt to his tactics. While the January addition of Patrick Dorgu suited Amorim’s system, the squad overall lacks reinforcements necessary to turn the season around. Despite these challenges, Amorim hopes to retain his position and prove himself next season.

However, with United’s struggles continuing and their search for stability since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure ongoing, the board appears ready to act decisively if results do not improve soon.
