Aston Villa have apparently relayed to Atlético Madrid their willingness to make an offer for João Félix, according to jounalist Héctor Gómez two days ago.
Mundo Deportivo on Thursday reported that the Villans are insisting on signing the forward as Unai Emery wants him in their frontline for the Champions League. However it seems Aston Villa are not ready to meet the €60m fee wanted by the La Liga side.
Additional news have it that Atlético are planning to get rid of Félix as his relationship with Diego Simeone is fractured, with him having been sent out on loan for the last 18 months. Clearly the Madrid club’s intention is to sell him this summer, with Record in Portugal reporting yesterday that Benfica are looking to sign the player on loan with a €30m purchase option but Atlético are unlikely to accept the offer.
Journalist Rubén Uría had relayed an update to Sport on Aston Villa’s efforts to sign the Portugal international, claiming that Emery is in ‘permanent contact’ with the player.
Atlético are asking for €60m, while the English club ‘can’t go beyond’ €32m. However, despite the difference, the journalist claims Aston Villa are ‘confident of advancing’ a deal for Félix, if they were to offload Jhon Durán in this window.
