Gini Wijnaldum Set to Join Barcelona

After an emotional farewell on Sunday, it appears that the question of where Gini Wijnaldum will play after he departs Liverpool has been answered. The usually reliable Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Dutchman has apparently snubbed Bayern Munich and has instead opted to head to the lush green plains of Catalunya, fully agreeable with the reduced salary just like Sergio Aguero with his Barcelona offer.

Gini looks to be part of what seems to be a Barcelona free transfer platoon of sorts, comprising Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and Memphis Depay on the list of Bosmans joining the club. He will reunite at the Camp Nou with his old Dutch national team boss Ronald Koeman (who at the moment looks like he’s staying, despite some speculation still about his departure). Of course, the assumption is that the “reduced salary” Gini has agreed to refers to the sum being lower than his demands, and isn’t in reference to his salary at Liverpool, because that would just be odd.
