Pep Guardiola’s £200m transfer warchest with Erling Haaland top of wishlist

Pep Guardiola will reportedly be armed with a £200million transfer warchest in the summer as the strategist continues with plans for an extravagant squad rebuild at the Etihad with new reinforcements already in mind.

Two targets allegedly top in Pep Guardiola’s wishlist at Man City are former Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku and Red Devils target Erling Haaland.

In a first move, Guardiola was handed more than £100m to spend on Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake in the summer transfer window as City buttressed their defence. Now, with Sergio Aguero yet to agree new terms at the Etihad, the club is looking at long-term successors up front with young talents.

The first of these, according to The Telegraph, is Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland, which is hardly surprising as Europe’s elite clubs are drooling over the Norwegian who is widely regarded as one of the best young forwards on the planet, having first impressed at Salzburg and then served further notice of his amazing progress in Germany.

The other name reportedly on City’s wishlist comes as something of a surprise – Romelu Lukaku who has been improving by leaps and bounds in Italy and City are said to be closely monitoring him ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Belgium international had been signed by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United before Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer assumed the mantle and sold him to Inter Milan.

Benfica youngster Darwin Nunez is another striker City are keenly monitoring.
