Tottenham star Son Heung-min’s candid off-field admission about Welsh trio Gareth Bale, Joe Rodon and Ben Davies

South Korea’s currently super hot Tottenham star, Son Heung-min, has spoken candidly about Welsh trio Gareth Bale, Joe Rodon and Ben Davies and his off-field life at Spurs.

The affable in-form striker says he enjoys a close connection with the Welsh contingent in north London, adding that Gareth Bale and Joe Rodon came into their ranks this summer, joining their compatriot Ben Davies at the club, bringing the number of Wales internationals to three at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son, now the man-of-the-moment whose goal against Burnley won him the 2020 FIFA Puskas Award this week, has confided that the Welsh trio are the ones who he socialises with most off the pitch.

In an interview with South Korean TV, Son was at his usual diplomatic best in not offending any of his team-mates but highlighted the Welsh trio, as well as Dele Alli, as those he is closest with.

The interviewer popped the question:

“Lots of fans want to know who are your best friends in the team, in your free time, who do you like to head out with?”

Son replied:

“I think everyone, I think with everyone I understand well because I have been here six years, so I know everyone quite well.

“I’m really close with Ben, Ben Davies, Gareth (Bale) and Joe Rodon, Dele (Alli), so those guys. I can’t pick one guy because the other guys will be jealous!

“I’m really close with everyone.”

Apparently the camaraderie flowing in the Spurs ranks is clear for all to see, with Jose Mourinho’s hot lads impressively flying high near the top of the Premier League table.

Tottenham face Leicester City on Sunday afternoon – with Son in blazing form having scored 14 goals in all competitions so far this season – with the north Londoners breathing down on Liverpool’s neck.

Son was selected in the starting XI to face the Foxes, with Bale, Rodon and Davies all consigned to the bench.
