Contrary to some media reports, Arsenal have not yet offered their star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang any contract extension.
ESPN cleared up the confusion by reporting that there is no contract for Aubameyang to agree or reject with.
Despite the fact that Aubameyang’s contract is set to expire in a year, Arsenal have yet to start a single discussion on such important matter.
It is an odd situation. Aubameyang has scored 49 league goals in 75 appearances for Arsenal since joining the London outfit in January 2018 for £57.4 million.
A player of Aubameyang’s calibre would prefer Arsenal to challenge for league title and qualifies in Champions League every season.
Yet, after three seasons, Arsenal is nowhere near of winning the Premier League and they will be missing Champions League football for the fourth season in a row.
Chelsea is also interested to sign Aubameyang, as they look to bolster the striker department which only housed Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
One thing for sure, Arsenal cannot afford to let Aubameyang leave for free next summer.
