Arsenal should sign Dayot Upamecano, now

The only position that Arsenal need to strengthen is defence, and that’s why they need to sign Dayot Upamecano in January.

They were provided with funds for winter transfer window since the arrival of Mikel Arteta.

But Arsenal have yet to improve on defensive duty, as they drew against Everton and 2-1 against Chelsea, which they conceded in the final 10 minutes.

This is the best time to sign Leipzig defender, Upamecano who would apparently available for around £40 million in the January transfer window as he only has 18 months left on his contract.

The German outfit won’t be so keen on selling since they are in the middle of a title fight in the Bundesliga while another centre-back Ibrahima Konaté has just returned from a long-term injury.

If Arsenal signed Upamecano, they could recall William Saliba from his loan spell at Saint-Étienne and pair them up in the defence.

We all know Arsenal have never been active to splash the cash during January transfer window, they did signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for £56 million back in 2017.

But Arsenal is no longer managed by under Arsene Wenger, it’s time for them to move on quick from Unai Emery’s disastrous reign, and put the Gunners back on the map of European football.

It would be a daunting task to qualify for Champions League this season, but it could be a long term plan for Arteta to rebuild Arsenal.

Even Jurgen Klopp took few years to build a formidable Liverpool side, Arsenal have what it takes to get back to where they belong.
