Arsenal have been handed a lifeline in the title race – which could alter their thinking for January, as there are just a couple of weeks remaining for Arsenal order to get themelves in order for the January transfer window with a number of Gunners stars linked with mid-season exits
The Gunners handed new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim his first defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. The gap at the top of the table has now been cut to seven points with Liverpool being held by Newcastle.
Arsenal are reportedly game to put three stars up for sale as manager Mikel Arteta attempts to trim down his squad. The Gunners would be willing to listen to offers for Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Nuno Tavares, according to Mail Online.
A sale for Vieira – who is currently in the middle of a loan spell with former club Porto – would likely have to wait until the end of the season. Portuguese defender Tavares is also in the midst of a temporary stint with Lazio – albeit there is an obligation to buy come the end of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Brazil winger Marquinhos has only made one league appearances for the club since joining from Sao Paulo and could also be sold. He is also currently in the middle of a loan spell with Fluminense after prior stints with Norwich and Nantes.
Arsenal star Jorginho has expressed to his teammates that anyone who doesn’t trust Arteta should leave the club. When asked what occurs when that trust is lost, the midfielder said: “It’s tough. You need to find somewhere else.
“I think even [in] yourself, that’s how you can get the best out of you. Because if you don’t have that feeling, if you feel so uncomfortable, if you feel you can’t do things – that feeling – it’s not going to work out for you, I don’t believe. That’s why I use a lot this word [trust], I think it’s an important thing.”
Jorginho, 32, has less than a year remaining on his own Arsenal deal after having made just six Premier League appearances this term.
Arsenal are also reportedly eyeing Alberto Moleiro as a potential recruit, according to Fichajes, who reveal that the Gunners are set to go head-to-head with Al-Hilal for the services of the Las Palmas starlet.
It is suggested that they would demand around €20m (£16.5m) for the youngster. Moleiro is apparently seen as a potential successor to Martin Odegaard. The attacking midfielder has made 15 appearances for Las Palmas so far this season with four goals to his name.
