According to numerous verified reports, Tottenham have agreed to sign Brighton’s Yves Bissouma for £25 million.
This would mark Tottenham’s third signing, but first since the transfer period opened last Friday. Bissouma has been rumored with a Tottenham move for some time now.
The Brighton midfielder is expected in Tottenham next week for a medical, but all signs point to confirmation of signing the 25-year-old.
Bissouma will offer Spurs the engine room in defensive central midfield they’ve been looking for. Tottenham have been watching his progress for a few years now, but instead opted for Tanguy Ndombele, who struggled to come to grips with life in the Premier League.
Other Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Arsenal were also after Bissouma, but the Ivorian decided to instead play for a Champions League side, once again proving how crucial securing fourth place was for Tottenham’s future.
While the deal isn’t completely done yet, all signs point to Spurs finally getting a player whose qualities resemble Moussa Dembele’s, who departed the club in 2019.
Bissouma joins Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster as Tottenham’s new signings. We’re still less than a week into the transfer period, reinforcing just how serious Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte are about bringing in up to six quality players before the 2022-23 Premier League campaign commences.
