Tottenham ace striker Harry Kane has told Twitch TV that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two greatest players he has ever had the privilege to play against.
Kane led Tottenham’s charge against Messi’s Barcelona side twice in the 2018 edition of the Champions League, and they also took on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid side the year before that. Unfortunately Spurs and Kane didn’t get the better of Barca, but they did subdue Madrid 3-1 back in 2017 in one of the most memorable European results in Tottenham’s recent history.
And when asked regarding the best player he has played against by PieFace, Kane said: “I have been lucky enough to play against Ronaldo and Messi, so everyone knows how good those two are.
“Between them it’s a big debate who’s better, but it’s been a honour to play against both of them. They are truly amazing players, the standards they have set over the years and continue to set into their mid 30’s are remarkable.”
Kane’s answer is hardly surprising, given the respect that Messi and Ronaldo command in the football world, and he later went on to say that if he compelled to pick between the pair, he would probably edge towards Messi – although he did stress he had great admiration for Ronaldo too.
Kane is actually behind both Messi and Ronaldo for league goals this season, despite scoring on 21 occasions for Tottenham and leading the Premier League’s goalscoring charts.
