Vinicius Jr. opens up on his Real Madrid future

Vinícius Jr. has reaffirmed his commitment to Real Madrid by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027. The Brazilian forward, who has been a key player for Los Blancos since joining in 2018, expressed his desire to continue making history with the Spanish giants.

The new deal, announced in October 2023, includes a significant salary increase and an extraordinary €1 billion release clause, underscoring Vinícius’ importance to the team. Reports suggest that this contract makes him one of Real Madrid’s highest-paid players. Speaking about the extension, Vinícius said, “Hello Madrid fans, I am very happy to renew my contract. It is a dream for me. I hope I can continue here for many years, scoring many goals and winning many titles. Thank you very much for the love. Hala Madrid!”

Vinícius’ previous contract was set to expire in 2024, but Real Madrid had been working on an extension since 2022. Despite rumors of interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabian clubs, the 23-year-old remains committed to his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu. He has already made over 235 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 63 goals and winning major honors, including two La Liga titles and the Champions League in 2022.

In addition to his on-field achievements, Vinícius has also been recognized for his off-field contributions. At the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony, he received the Socrates Award for his efforts to combat social inequality in Brazil and his fight against racism in football. Reflecting on this recognition, Vinícius stated, “It’s boring to have to talk about racism all the time, but it’s an important thing and I will talk about it as often as I have to.”

With this new contract in place, Real Madrid has secured one of their brightest stars for years to come. Vinícius remains focused on continuing his development and helping the club achieve further success while addressing broader societal issues through his platform.
