Everton striker’s stunning perfect header has Alan Shearer purring

England national Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stunning header executed from a magnificent gravity-defying leap saw Everton fight back for a share of the spoils to draw level at 2-2 with Liverpool in the Merseyside derby yesterday.

Team mate Lucas Digne played an equally crucial part as he swung in a delightful cross and the Everton striker took it up a giddying notch to turn the opportunity into a magnificent goal. Suddenly from nowhere he sprung into the picture and leapt elegantly into the air, heading home a well-placed goal to secure the draw.

It was a goal that got the attention of none other than Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s leading goalscorer of all time, who was mesmerised by its perfect, well-timed and well-placed execution. Stunned by what had witnessed with his own eyes, it was a perfect beauty of a goal he would have been proud to have scored himself.

“Wow! Put it in the box he’s going to get on the end of it, get off it (Andrew) Robertson, I’m going to get in front of the defender. Get up first, nobody is going to stop him,” Shearer stated on Match of the Day.

“To get the direction, to get the power, the accuracy, all of that, absolutely magnificent. What a start. England cap, England goal, top-scorer in the Premier League. Wow. Impressive.”

It definitely takes a lot to get the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer to exclaim ‘Wow!’ on two occasions so this goal must have really caught his eye.

Calvert-Lewin has been in stellar form this season, with Carlo Ancelotti managing to get the best out of the illustrious and industrious star, which has led to goals galore for Everton and a first strike for the England senior team.

Everton fans will no doubt be hoping anxiously for more goals galore from the striker as the rest of the season unfolds.
