Jesse Lingard has given a heads-up that David Moyes urged his West Ham United side to keep their intensity at the half-time break yesterday against Tottenham Hotspur.
West Ham were in front at half-time, courtesy of an early goal from Michail Antonio and Moyes was keen to ensure that his West Ham side did not take their foot off the pedal.
Evidently the Scottish manager’s words had the desired impact as the Hammers cranked up another notch to double their lead almost immediately after the break with Jesse Lingard pouncing on to a loose ball and thundering it beyond Hugo Lloris with his left-foot.
And Lingard said, when asked what Moyes told West Ham’s players at half-time:
“Just maintaining the same intensity, same concentration and focus as the first-half.
“Like we say, we knew it was going to be a graft – and we had to graft for 95 plus minutes, but that’s what we’re about and we like to work hard for the three points.”
Despite having to work hard for their win, West Ham managed to emerge victorious finally, thanks also to some excellent defensive work.
The Hammers have now eased themselves into the top four, with real optimism building that they could actually make a push for the top four.
