It’s as if he hasn’t left as the specter of Neymar is again hovering on Barcelona’s horizon. New has emerged that the Brazilian is still pining for a return to Catalonia and has his heart set on a transfer in the immediately foreseeable future.
This, needless to say, is going to be easier said than done, especially with the Azulgrana‘s current financial situation, but it is still highly likely, or so it seems, as the latest report from SPORT alleges that Neymar can indeed return to Camp Nou but Barcelona will first have to make a major sale to accommodate this.
In short, the paper concludes that either Antoine Griezmann or Ousmane Dembélé will be the unwilling sacrificial lambs offered on the transfer altar.
It’s by now already open knowledge that the Brazilian has been in contact with some of the presidential candidates with of whom believing it would be to Barcelona’s interest that he should indeed return to the club so this option should not be so easily tossed out. But then again, giving the boot to either Dembélé or Griezmann would then have to be top priority on the club’s upcoming agenda.
It goes without saying that Barcelona will need to offload more players such as Junior Firpo, Martin Braithwaite or even Samuel Umtiti with the two French forwards being the only ones that could garner them enough profit to help seal the deal for such a luxurious purchase.
Neymar is now entering the final year of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and, if the report from SPORT holds water, he is said to be not keen at all to renew his deal with the Parisien club, which should give Barcelona some measure of negotiating power if they are indeed planning on bidding again for the Brazilian despite that being an obviously highly expensive operation.
