Saudi takeover with Kevin Keegan ‘exclusive’ as £300m deal draws near

An exciting ‘exclusive’ emerged on the takeover front with an interesting report claiming that Kevin Keegan will be invited by the Saudi-backed buyers to take up an ambassadorial role on Tyneside ‘when’, and not ‘if’, the £300m deal goes through.

The report alleges that the would-be owners have identified the 69-year-old’s return to Newcastle as a ‘high-priority’, stating they are keen and intent on generating goodwill at the club and desire to immediately lay the carpet, so to speak, for the popular ex-NUFC boss to make his return.

The report is also confident that the takeover itself is drawing closer, saying it could be confirmed ‘within the next 10 days’ after The Mirror were told over the weekend that a Premier League approval is now ‘in sight’, claiming that Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium have not been asked by the Premier League to give any more details – despite beIN Sports and Amnesty International complaints – suggesting that this is a clear sign the test is ‘close to being satisfied’.

As for Keegan, The Mirror reports that ‘Keegan’s name and superb media and personal skills are being seen as crucial to promoting the club on a global scale‘ in an ambassadorial role.

Apparently Keegan isn’t the only ex-Magpie who will be called back on board. It’s been revealed that Terry McDermott has been shortlisted along with a host of former players, stating that the club’s new hierarchy are ‘keen to build bridges’, an activity that Mike Ashley had never done with any ex-Newcastle player over the past 13 years.

Keegan had vowed to never return to St James’ Park while Mike Ashley remained, so it would be quite fitting to see King-Kev back where he belongs as soon as the Saudis arrive!
