Thierry Henry  believes Arsenal can go all the way in the Champions League after thrashing PSV 7-1

Thierry Henry believes Arsenal’s emphatic 7-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League has given them the confidence to go all the way in the competition. The historic win, which marked the highest-ever score by an away team in a Champions League knockout match, showcased Arsenal’s attacking depth despite injuries to key players like Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners dominated the match at the Philips Stadion with goals from Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard (twice), Leandro Trossard, and Riccardo Calafiori. PSV’s lone goal came from a Noa Lang penalty. Arsenal’s performance silenced doubts about their ability to find goals in the absence of their main strikers, as six different players got on the scoresheet.

Henry, speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, expressed his belief that Arsenal can use this result as a springboard for success against tougher opponents like Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals. “Yes, they can [win the Champions League]. I do believe that,” he said. However, he emphasized that Arsenal must now prove themselves against stronger teams.

Manager Mikel Arteta echoed Henry’s sentiments, highlighting how the victory has boosted the team’s confidence. “It was a big night for us against a really good side,” Arteta said. He praised his players for their performance and urged them to stay humble and focused on upcoming challenges.

With Liverpool almost certain to claim the Premier League title and Arsenal already eliminated from domestic cup competitions, the Champions League represents their only chance at silverware this season. Despite their progress under Arteta—winning an FA Cup and finishing as Premier League runners-up twice—the Gunners have not reached a Champions League final since 2006.

Tuesday’s win sets up a likely quarter-final clash with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. To advance further, Arsenal will need to overcome Europe’s elite teams without a traditional striker. Nonetheless, this historic result has reignited hope among fans and players alike for a memorable European campaign.
