A popular topic that’s most likely to end up central to most discussions among Madridistas these days is PSG’s Kylian Mbappe. With the Santiago Bernabeu’s fans getting increasingly inquisitive, and restless, regarding PSG’s transfer status, the French World Cup winner remains the focal point of discussion.
It is understandable if one were to conclude that PSG, despite their deep pockets, would seemingly still need to sell Mbappe in order to accommodate Lionel Messi’s extortionate wages, having already spent loads on Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, and another former Madrid player in Achraf Hakimi in the still on-going summer transfer window.
Yet, remarkably and refreshingly, the reality of the situation is that the Parc des Princes club do not seem to need to be concerned with Financial Fair Play restraints and inhibitions or any other customary financial constraint that would befall basically any other club in this universe. PSG are strikingly unique in that they seem to operate in their own bubble of reality, cushioned by their seemingly cozy relationship with UEFA lavishly provided for with the boundless affluence provided by the Qatar Emirate itself.
As such, the ever-reliable and erstwhile transfer specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano’s latest prediction regarding Mbappe’s Los Blancos future reflects these harsh realities that the Madridistas must contend with, unlike their Parisien counterparts.
Voicing his thoughts via Cadena SER’s El Larguero, the most revered transfer reporter in all the land opined that PSG will keep Mbappe for themselves for the 2021-2022 season, which would also be the final year of his contract. Romano further elucidates that PSG are “very relaxed” with regards to FFP.
But the omens are not all bad for Madridistas either although Romano does not think Real Madrid will be able to sign Mbappe in the 2021 summer transfer window due to PSG’s grand ambitions and a lack of pressure from UEFA, but he does believe Los Blancos will land their dream target in 2022.
Happily at this point, that also seems to be the consensus among fans as they seem to have resigned themselves to the fact that an Mbappe deal this summer is looking most unlikely, even if the player himself has made it clear that he would like to move on. But Madridistas are convinced that Mbappe will eventually embark on his journey at the Santiago Bernabeu, playing for the club of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, as his heir and their all-important new Galactico superstar.
For what has seemed an interminably long period of time, Real Madrid have been in dire need of a new superstar striker to boost the team’s ageing profile and goal-scoring, having been too heavily reliant on Karim Benzema, who, despite his prowess, is still no Messi and can only carry this unit so far.
Madrid’s hardcore loyals are growing restless of waiting for Eden Hazard’s ever-questionable fitness and breakouts from the youngsters. They already see Mbappe as a Madrid player, and the wait and anxiety are simply too much for many in the fanbase to bear.
Yet as Romano says, though, PSG are in neither the frame of mind nor disposition to be rushed in any way and are in an excellent place unto themselves to keep all their THREE superstar forwards, now that they have officially unveiled Lionel Messi to the football cosmos as their newest signing to usher in a new era at the Parc des Princes.
Real Madrid, and the rest of the football world, can wait in line.
