Pundit claims Spurs’ chairman Levy will be interfering in Ryan Mason’s team selections

Speculation has been rife about whether or not Tottenham are likely to re-sign Bale for next season and Dean Windass believes that chairman Daniel Levy will be instructing Ryan Mason to play Gareth Bale in the final few games of the season.

Bale kept his place in the starting lineup for Tottenham’s trip to Elland Road after scoring a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Sheffield United two weeks ago but the Welshman, much like the rest of the Spurs side, put in a dismal showing as Mason’s men lost 3-1, a result which effectively ended the club’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

British press reports have claimed that Levy will offer the next Tottenham boss the chance to re-sign the incorrigble Welsh winger next season although reports from Spain emerging on the contrary that the 31-year-old may prefer to see out the final year of his contract at Madrid if coach Zinedine Zidane leaves the club.

Windass firmly believes that Bale is more likely to be keen on returning to North London next season now that Jose Mourinho is no longer in charge.

The former Hull City midfielder told Football Fancast: “It’s up to Gareth if he wants to stay, it’s nothing to do with the club.

“Now Mourinho has gone, there’s more chance of him wanting to stay because he is going to get a run of games.

“I guarantee you this, Daniel Levy will be telling Ryan Mason to play him.”
