Egyptian marvel Mohamed Salah scored a late goal in Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with the three points gained being crucial for the Reds, who are still fighting to finish in the top four this season.
The Egypt international’s 30th goal across all competitions this season moved him up the Premier League goal scoring charts to equal Tottenham’s Harry Kane with 21 goals, putting him a step closer to winning his third Golden Boot.
The 28-year-old striker has now notched 96 Premier League goals to his name, surpassing Nigerian legend Yakubu as the third all-time African scorer in England’s top division, simultaneously equaling Raheem Sterling’s record in the competition.
Coincidentally, this was also his 200th appearance with Liverpool with his 170th direct goal contribution [124 goals and 46 assists].
The Reds’ crucial win over Manchester United marks Liverpool’s first victory over their bitter rivals at Old Trafford since 2014.
His final goal of the encounter made Salah the first Liverpool player in 100 years to score in two different matches at Old Trafford in a single season. The prolific striker scored a brace earlier this year when Liverpool lost 3-2 in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
