Laporta close to securing €500m boost for Barcelona that would allow two big deals for Blaugrana

The cataclysmic drama and furore over a European Super League brought Barcelona’s finances to a much wider audience that had not been previously privy to the full extent of the problems plaguing the LaLiga giants.

In the weeks following Joan Laporta’s triumphant comeback as president of the Catalan club for his second tenure, there’d been a resurgence of optimism around Camp Nou, and the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland was even touted as a vibrant possibility.

However that quickly receded in the days following the collapse of the ESL, and it’s even been questioned whether the La Liga side can afford to keep Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou beyond the end of this season when his contract runs out.

New investment is clearly needed, and El Chiringuito now report Laporta is on the verge of securing a €500m sponsorship boost for Barcelona. Although there’re no firm details on what that will cover, it’s claimed such a deal would allow the club to renew Messi’s contract, besides providing money to sign Neymar from PSG.

It again feels like an optimistic inclination on things at the Barca camp, and the coming weeks will see whether this is realistic or just another of the Blaugranas’ dreams of solving Barcelona’s financial problems.
