Six Barcelona players reportedly blacklist Lionel Messi

Few, if any, have gone through vicissitudes like the turbulent patch Lionel Messi has gone through at Barcelona over the past few seasons. It looked like like the Argentine forward had finally reached his boiling point this season with the club in August after he had reportedly sent a burofax to the board stating that he wanted out.

As things evenetually turned out, Messi’s potential move out of Camp Nou was blocked and the 33-year-old was kept at the club against his will, after which the new season saw the Barcelona talisman’s performances on the pitch suffer a dip, despite the flashes of brilliance while still shouldering the weight of the team. Messi’s performances this season speak volumes about his morale at the club. The Blaugrana skipper has only four goals from open play this season and has been a shadow of his past form.

Be as it may, it seems like Messi’s tenure at Barcelona could now be coming to an end as his contract expires next summer in June with the forward able to enter into discussions with any interested parties. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are currently the forerunners to land Leo Messi next summer.

A fresh report from Diario GOL has emerged stating that Lionel Messi could leave the Camp Nou next summer on a bitter note. The report states that Messi has allegedly fallen out with six senior players and does not talk to them anymore. It seems like these players have now blacklisted Leo Messi.

The players in question are Riqui Puig, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ousmane Dembele, Miralem Pjanic, Samuel Umtiti, and Junior Firpo. It seems like apart from Ter Stegen, it is the younger generation that has fallen out with Messi. Leo apparently still has the backing of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Gerard Pique, except that these veteran players have already fallen down the pecking order at Barca and could be on their way out of the club sooner than ever.

If the alleged report is true, this would seem to be quite an unfortunate ending for Lionel Messi at Barcelona. Arguably the greatest footballer ever to play the game, he has won everything there is to win at the Catalan club and is the club’s greatest ever player as well, and certainly does not in any way deserve to be treated this way by any of his teammates.
