Bruno Fernandes blows hot and happy with ‘intense’ Man Utd training sessions

Bruno Fernandes hit the ground fast and furious at Old Trafford after arriving from Sporting Lisbon in January and is one of the United stalwarts eagerly looking forward to the Premier League restart.

Fernandes is confident he and his United team-mates will happily be right in the thick of action when the Premier League resumes.

The Portuguese midfielder has turned out impressively since joining from Sporting Lisbon in a £47million deal in January.

Although United lost to Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom on Friday night, Fernandes is confident his side will be ready to take on Morinho’s Tottenham next week.

“We are really happy,” he said. “Things are really intense, really good.

“We wait for this moment because we like to play football and we are really enjoying this time.”

In the friendly warm-up game against the Baggies, Fernandes found the target but also missed a penalty as United conceded the match 2-1.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men currently lie fifth in the Premier League, three points and one place behind Lampard’s Chelsea who currently occupy the final Champions League spot.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced every top-flight club to make changes to their training routines in order to ensure a safe restart.

And Fernandes added: “The difference is just to arrive at different hours and not doing the same as we did in the past.

“But the most important thing is that we can train and that we can be together in the training ground, and to train together.”

Fernandes scored twice and complete three assists in his five Premier League outings before the pandemic struck.

The defeat by West Brom was the first time Fernandes and Paul Pogba linked up in the United midfield following the Frenchman’s return from injury.
