Karim Benzema scored the only goal in the Madrid derby as Real beat Atletico 1-0 to go six points clear in La Liga.
Both Madrid team could not break the deadlock in the first half, but Benzema as he scored through a cross from Ferland Mendy in the 56 minutes to score the only goal of the game.
Real could have won by more but two chances created by Vinicius Jr forcing two saves from Jan Oblak.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are now unbeaten in 21 games and have won eight in a row including a penalty shootout win over Atletico in the Spanish Super Cup.
For Atletico, they are currently on five matches without a single win with 36 points, as their place were overtaken by Sevilla, Valencia and Getafe.
