Dramatic defeat for Man City

It was a dramatic defeat for Manchester City as they surrendered two goal lead, allowing Wolves to comeback with three goals in less than 20 minutes.

Martin Atkinson awarded controversial penalty backed by VAR, despite the obvious no foul on Riyad Mahrez.

Wolves keeper Rui Patricio saved Raheem Sterling’s spot kick, but the penalty had to be retaken and despite another Patricio’s excellent saves, he could not save a rebound from Sterling.

Sterling continued his brilliant performance as he doubled City’s lead early in the second half.

Wolves clawed back through Adama Traore with a low shot from outside of the box.

However, Benjamin Mendy misjudged Adama Traore’s movement who robbed the ball from his feet, quickly pass to Raul Jimenez, who easily scored the equaliser.

Matt Doherty was the Wolves hero as he scored in the 89th minute.

It was a significant victory for Wolves and significant defeat for Man City as they were 14-point adrift from league leaders Liverpool.

Wolves will travel to Anfield on Monday, with Liverpool hoping to extend the lead even further as they hunt for the first Premier League title in 30 years.
