Three Reasons Why Bale’s Transfer to China Fell Through

Disagreements Over a Transfer Fee

During this summer window, Real Madrid have spent over €300m to sign six new players; Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Takefusa Kubo.

So far, they have been able to recoup the amount they paid for Hazard, their most expensive signing, with outgoing transfers. However, they still remain far from recouping the entire amount spent, meaning they have a large transfer deficit. A big fee for Gareth Bale could go a long way in offsetting that.

However, Jiangsu Suning wanted to have him for free due to tax-related issues in China. It seems that the team has to pay the Chinese government the same amount of the transfer fee as taxes, as per new regulations aim to curb irresponsible spending. Leave a player such Bale who still has a contract for free was not a smart business decision for Real.

Florentino Pérez Likes Bale

It may not be a realistic reason to inform this decision, but we all know that Bale is one of the favorite players of the chairman Florentino Perez. When Bale transferred to Real in 2013 from Tottenham Hotspur, he became the world’s most expensive player.

The chairman at that time was aiming to create a Real centered on this player.  In Cristiano Ronaldo`s case, Perez refused to set up a new budget to extend his contract. The result was Ronaldo transferred to Juventus. If Ronaldo was considered so important, he would have hoped for Ronaldo to remain by preparing an offer that suited the player.
