Marcus Rashford’s ‘career-ending injury’ claim by his representatives

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford had a dismal showing against West Ham and representatives D N May Sports Management have spoken out on his return to full fitness.

Rashford’s back injury aggravated earlier this year could have been career threatening, the United  star’s representatives have claimed.

The Red Devils forward had been on the sidelines in mid-January and only returned to action before the end of the season due to the coronavisrus lockdown.

The extension to the 2019/20 campaign was a blessing in disguise as it provided Rashford sufficient time to recover and convalesce further to rebuild his fitness.

Rashford’s decent form has been holding out pretty well in the league since the restart, having featured nobly in all eight of United’s games post-lockdown, scoring three times and registering three assists during that spell.

His only noticeable dip in form was in the past two games against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final and West Ham in the Premier League, where he appeared to have struggled a bit.

He was also off his game in both the defeat at Wembley and the 1-1 draw last night at Old Trafford.

United legend Patrice Evra was working as a pundit for the West Ham match on Sky Sports.

At full time, Evra said: “People are commenting a lot on Paul Pogba, using a lot of harsh words. I didn’t see any harsh words on Marcus Rashford, because Rashford had a poor game today.”

Rashford’s representatives D N May Sports Management have not been impressed with the criticism that has come the No.10’s way.

It appears the 22-year-old may still not be fully match fit as the representatives on Thursday posted on Twitter: “Lots said about the fitness of Marcus yesterday.

“What’s incredible is that I am sure the boy is building himself back up to fitness from a potentially career-ending injury.

“United is a team that win together and lose together.”

Rashford is still likely to be picked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Sunday’s crunch Premier League finale at the King Power Stadium.

United must avoid defeat against top-four rivals Leicester in order to guarantee qualification for the Champions League.
