Manchester City are back in Premier League action tonight aiming to add pressure to league leaders Liverpool when they host Burnley at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany will be taking his team to his former fortress for the first time in the top flight and will be hoping for a better turnout than the one last year when the two teams met in the FA Cup, when Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick that night with City steamrolling the then Championship leaders 6-0. Despite securing promotion to the Premier League, the Clarets have struggled to adapt to the top flight.
Kompany’s side can expect an uphill task against the Blues as City boss Pep Guardiola announced at his press conference on Tuesday that Haaland will be fit for selection for the first time since his injury in December. Boosts in defence were also announced as Manu Akanji and John Stones were also confirmed to be fully fit.
As such, all of City’s squad are in training and available for selection this midweek and with this wide selection choice Guardiola will be expected to leverage on this excellent opportunity to potentially gain ground on leaders Liverpool.
