Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag would be in the thick of finalising his plans ahead of the new Premier League campaign before it kicks off in less than two weeks time.
With two players already signed this summer and a third, Rasmus Hojlund, set to arrive from Atalanta. Hojlund’s arrival would take United’s spending in excess of £150m this window, after the addition of Mason Mount and Andre Onana to the squad.
Although more incomings have been targeted, the concern now would be players needing to be heading out the door to fund further signings as Ten Hag may need to ‘sell up to five players’ to fund a move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat this summer.
The Red Devils have now got to sell before they can buy, with Hojlund set to become their latest summer arrival, according to The Independent, whose report claims that United will need to allow five stars to depart the club in the coming weeks in order to get a deal over the line for Amrabat, who is valued at around £30m.
Among the players heavily linked with a move away from the club are Scott McTominay, Fred and Brandon Williams, according to what’s been in the air so far. Scotland international Mctominay has found a keen suitor in West Ham who are looking to sign a replacement for Declan Rice. Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Fred could be exiting Old Trafford for Fulham. United starlet Nathan Bishop has also reportedly left the club for Sunderland on a three-year deal.
As for Brandon Williams, Leeds United could be keen on a move for the Man Utd full-back, according to The Independent. The academy talent has been signed by Whites boss Daniel Farke before, with the German taking him to Norwich in a one-year loan deal ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Several members of last season’s squad have already left on loan, with Williams potentially filling the gap left by Rasmus Kristensen’s temporary move to Roma which saw Farke replacing Sam Allardyce following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The 22-year-old missed the start of last season through injury and only made one appearance for United in the entire campaign. However, he was included in Erik ten Hag’s touring squad to the United States.
